I’ve been serving as Treasurer for the Town of Suffield since April of 2022. In that role I am also serving as a member and chair of the Retirement Commission and as an ex officio member of the Helena Bailey Spencer Tree Fund Committee. I’ve established a good working relationship with the First Selectman, the Board of Finance, the Director of Finance, and the finance professionals who support the town, the Board of Education, and the Water Pollution Control Authority. I’ve demonstrated that I can do this job, and I’d like to keep doing it for the next four years.
I was employed at Cigna from 1978 through 2015, most of that time managing information technology projects. Among other things I was involved in evaluating business cases and making recommendations on which projects looked like they would be cost effective and which ones needed more preparation before being considered again. I retired in 2015 so that I would have more time to volunteer in our town.
I think my project and program management background qualifies me for the office of Town Treasurer. I’ve maintained a Project Management Professional certification since 2003, completed a Business Process Re-engineering certification in 2011, and earned a Six Sigma “Green Belt” quality control certification in 2013. I also completed a Whole Farm Planning certification program in 2016.
