Jennifer Metcalf – Planning & Zoning Commission
Jen Metcalf, a Suffield resident for the last 16 years, is a parent, nature lover, gardener and a nationally certified Community Planner (American Institute of Certified Planners, American Planning Association). She knows the importance of listening, connection and inclusion in government processes. Jen knows government, loves Suffield, and cheerily calls it like it is: if a law’s broken, she’ll fix it—side by side with the community.
Qualifications & Experience:
- 18 years as a Municipal Official
- Over 22 years of community development work including wetland and open space preservation, planning, housing and economic development. Personally wrote, or participated in the amendment to, over 55 local land use policies
- Volunteering Locally, Current Roles:
- Member, Suffield’s School Wellness Committee
- Secretary, Suffield Music Boosters Association
- Member, Capital Region Council of Governments (CRCOG) Regional Housing Strategy Advisory Committee
- Previous Roles:
- Member, Selection and Startup Committee, Suffield Greater Together Community Fund, appointed by the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving
- Volunteer, Wetland Station, Suffield Bio Blitz
- Member, Suffield Design Review Board
